INVESTING in TOMORROW'S WORLD | Referendum 2024

Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial (LCWM) Schools have growing needs in maintenance and upkeep to our facilities and grounds. Long Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) funds are not sufficient for the district to keep up with the costly repairs. On November 5, voters will be asked to vote to approve a $6.5 million bond referendum to assist in funding these projects.

Football Field Lighting does not light properly and needs to be replaced.

Roof sections on the elementary and secondary buildings need to be replaced.

THE NEED & THE PLAN

Restore & Replace our Aging Facilities

The original 1971 elementary building has served our community well! Parts of the original building and surrounding grounds are in need of updating and replacing for the health and safety of our students and staff.

If approved..

If approved, the District will repair parking lots, drives, and sidewalks, replace roof sections on both buildings, replace flooring in the Elementary Media Center, update lighting to LED lights.

"Play" Surface Updates

Our athletic complexes serve our community well and host a multitude of activities throughout the year. Opportunities are limited with lighting and there are safety concerns due to the condition of our complexes. The asphalt play surface at the elementary also needs repairs.

If approved...

If approved, the District will complete football field & track repairs, replace and add lighting to football and baseball fields, and repair the elementary’s asphalt play surface.

Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC Repairs

Classrooms have not been heated or cooled properly at times because of failing units as many of them were put into place when the buildings were new.

If approved...

If approved, the District will repair & replace boiler units, water softeners, sump pump, exhaust fans for heating and cooling, and other miscellaneous components.

Plumbing, heating, and electrical units need to be replaced due to failure and improper functioning.

Parking lots at both buildings need to be replaced due to cracks and low spots causing unsafe conditions.

Tax Impact

Did you know?

The state of Minnesota will pay a significant portion of the total bond project.

The State of Minnesota will pay approximately 35% of the district's bond payments, or approximately $2.3 million of the $6.5 million bond amount through the Ag2School Tax Credit program. This reduces the burden to the Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial taxpayers.
