Snowshoes Means Increased Activity Opportunity

Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Physical Education recently received a grant supported by the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership, Minnesota Department of Health to purchase 75 pairs of snowshoes.

The goal of the project is to provide snowshoes for students in grades 4-10 who would be introduced to the experience of snowshoeing during the winter and continue participating in the activity with their families and/or friends. Snowshoeing is a lifelong physical activity with many benefits including a good cardio workout, building strength and connecting with nature.

LCWM is also extending the snowshoe program into the community by offering a future class through LCWM Community Education and working with the LCARC on a rental program for community members to use the snowshoes.
