Thankfully the weather was a bit more favorable for our 1st and 2nd graders "Kids Heart Challenge"! Each student jumped at a variety of stations set up by Mrs. Graupman for an hour yesterday morning! Students have learned about having a healthy heart and have raised funds to help fight heart disease over the last few months!
Don't forget tomorrow the city is hosting the Arbor Day celebration! FFA students will be selling plants from the greenhouse from 2:30-6 in Marston Park!

On Friday April 19th, some of the Robotics Team members attended the Engineering Machine Design Championship in Rochester MN. They were awarded the Theme Originality award for the machine that had the most original interpretation of this year's theme. They also showed strong teamwork and problem solving skills while incorporating a random item into their machine design to earn a second place finish in the Redesign Round.
Ten LCWM seniors participated in the 50th Annual Minnesota State University Math Competition on Wednesday. The exam consists of questions from algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Participants included Kiera, Isabelle, Maggie, Katelin, Adeline, Hope, Lucas, Caleb, Ethan, and Jamis.
LCWM's top scorers were Maggie and Isabelle. Congratulations!
First graders had a special visitor, the author of "The Kindness Booth," Laura Murray, late last week. During her visit, she read the story to them, then gave each student their own copy of the book! This was made possible by the Mankato Area United Way.
While underclassmen are testing this morning, seniors are visiting and assisting at the elementary school!
LCWM seniors attended the Minnesota State High School League Art competition hosted in Montgomery last Wednesday. Olivia was awarded a Superior for her Mixed Media Gouache and colored pencil; Hope and Gillian both were awarded an Excellent in Ceramics; Adeline was awarded an Excellent in Drawing; Adeline and Gillian received Excellent; and Hope received a Superior in the Painting Category.
The LCWM National Honor Society inducted 28 new members to our local Chapter on Sunday, April 14th. This year's president, Kiera Kirchner, led our ceremony. Our Chapter now has 84 members who look forward to doing many service projects for our community. All Senior members of the NHS will become permanent members of the National Honor Society at their graduation ceremony. Special thanks go to the LCWM FFA for making the flowers, Jackie Slama for the punch, and NJHS members for helping with the reception.
This is the new greenhouse at the high school. Congratulations to the AG teachers and students for getting it up and running. A huge thank you to the community who supported this project. I know a flower sale is coming up at the end of the month, stay posted.

At a special board meeting this evening, the LCWM School Board approved the three year contract with Brett Benson who is currently serving as the K-12 Principal at BOLD Schools in Oliva, MN. He holds a Superintendent Licensure, a Masters in Education and Coaching/Athletic Administration, and a BS in Elementary Education. His professional experience includes being a K-12 Principal since 2019, a 5th Grade Elementary Teacher at Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove Schools from 2013 to 2019, and a 4th Grade Teacher at MCW in 2012.
The LCWM school board commits to supporting our new superintendent, Brett Benson, and acknowledges his leadership capabilities. They are dedicated to fostering a strong partnership with him, providing support and resources to facilitate his success. Together, they will collaborate on initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education at LCWM. By working together, the board and Mr. Benson, intend to build on the District’s Strategic Plan, goals, and initiatives for the students and strive to be United and Committed to Educational Excellence by embracing the District’s core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, and Excellence.
