Mitchel, senior at LCWM, competed at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, known as ISEF during the week of May 11-17. Regeneron ISEF is the world's largest pre-college science fair with nearly 2000 students from 49 states and nearly 70 countries, regions, and territories around the world. Mitchel won the trip with his project on Tesla Turbines in February at the Southern Regional Science Fair held at Minnesota State University, Mankato. This was Mitchel's second time earning a trip to Regeneron ISEF, his previous trip was held virtually in 2021. Aidan, sophomore at LCWM, was chosen as the first alternate at the February fair and got to attend ISEF as a student observer. In addition to sponsoring the competition, Regeneron rented Universal Studios Hollywood from 6 pm to Midnight on Wednesday, May 15 for all attendees. Kelly Moeller, science fair advisor, chaperoned the trip. James Thorne (not pictured), Southern Regional Science Fair director, also attended with the group.
Stats on the fair can be found here: https://www.societyforscience.org/press-release/high-schoolers-win-more-than-9-million-at-regeneron-isef-2024/
